3 Main Things to Know Before You Start Programming

Programming is a complex and exciting job that can provide you with your dream life. But the real question is, are you a future programmer?

I meet more and more people involved in programming in one way or another. And many of them give up very quickly. Maybe these 3 things will make it easier for you, so you don’t give up.

Set Your Goals

#1 Set Your Goals

It’s easy to learn to program, but then what. Before you turn on your computer that day, you need to know what to expect from that day. So it is with programming.

Setting goals daily, monthly and annual, will give you the motivation and desire to fulfill those.

For Example:

  • Today, you could aim to learn HTML and CSS for an hour or two.
  • You could explore and find some great sources of programming information.
  • You could watch your favorite tutorial for a specific technology.

The goal here is not to have deadlines and feel fixated, so you must do something, but to learn with enjoyment and grow daily. Believe in yourself, in your work and knowledge, because time and goals are the only indicators that you were right.

Pay Attention to the Basics

#2 Pay Attention to the Basics

The basics of coding are learned quickly, but in some cases, they are forgotten quickly as well. Don’t let that happen to you.

The basics are necessary for less and more experienced programmers. Good knowledge of the basics is crucial for the later implementation of theoretical knowledge in practical application. The basics of programming are critical parts of any problem that will arise later that you will encounter.

Don’t Give Up

#3 Don’t Give Up

Most developers give up on the first problem in the code if they fail to solve it immediately.

It is important to know that programming is complex until you achieve the goal you set, whether that goal is the first client, the first office job, or the first independent project. But it takes time and effort.

What you need to know is that all problems have solutions. Mistakes are not a problem, and they should not be. They only strengthen you, and you should learn from them.

It is not a shame to make a mistake and ask for help. Maybe tomorrow you will help others solve their problems and teach them something. Now it's much easier, as today, we have a lot of websites, forums, blogs, and tutorials from which we can learn.

Finding yourself in programming is half the battle.

Conclusion

Coding is constantly changing and being updated, which means that we will always have something to learn, fulfill and strive to.
